THE EXODUS CONTINUES !
A fire exploded at Kokrajhar and even before anyone could react, it spread for hundreds of miles all around and engulfed a significant part of Bodoland (India’s Biggest tragedy-a Bridge too far, Cover Story, OUTLOOK, Aug 13,2012) It continued for days fuelled by firing, killing, arson and every inhuman act one can think of………..leaving innumerable homeless and forced to move to unknown destinations………..a mass aimless exodus !
All this didn’t happen overnight, the fire was simmering since long, the smoke was being seen and smelt by all concerned except for our protective machinery including the police, law and the government, who in the true spirit of being Gandhian , are deaf, dumb and blind !Had heard and seen pictures of mass exodus during the Indo-Pak partition and then during the creation of Bangla Desh, but this beats all hollow…..and that too in today’s time of so called advancement and growth………..If this darkness is the face of Shining India ,then the undeveloped India would be a better option.
Hundreds died, thousands lost and injured, lakhs left homeless and millions forced to leave their homeland………but the impact of this most undesired blast has been even worse………….It has left the whole nation, numb, stunned, shocked, sad and above all insecure. Why to fear foreign enemies or terrorists, when our internal conflicts can create irreparable damages ?The heart shattering wails of ladies who lost their husbands or kids, the moans of the injured, and the cries of the hungry children are shattering the skies, but they fail to cross the cry-proof boundaries of the bungalows of Leutian Delhi to reach our government. The government which has actually sat over these explosive situations over years, for their ulterior motives and selfish games, as if actually waiting for it to explode. And even now, while the never ending and nonstop moving homeless Indians, suffer without shelter ,medical aid, food and even drinking water and live in the most sub human situations, nothing much seems to be coming forth. The eyes of these helpless people, with dried and exhausted tears, wait for a truck for some relief but all they can see is smoke in the air and all that they get is disappointment. Shocking to see, that even today the relief measures are far from satisfactory.
It’s time for every government agency, every organization, every NGO and every Indian to come forward and contribute all that they can to help these unlucky anguishing Indians, who have suffered in the hands of the rulers of this really very Incredible India !
