Ankhoon Dekhi , written and directed by Rajat Kapoor is yet another wonderful movie, which can be called, art film, parallel cinema, off beat movie or whatever…. the fact is that it is a super movie but the sad part is that it came and went, probably unseen, unheard and unsung! The story moves around a lower middle class family, of two brothers, elder working for a travel agency and younger a CA, living together, on the first floor of an old typical north Indian building in the interiors of Delhi. Freedom in captivity ! Was a pleasure watching, HIGHWAY.........another movie from Imtiaz Ali, the maker of Jab we Met, and on a similar on the run theme. The story revolves around the kidnapping of a girl and is based on the concept of Stockholm Syndrome, a mental state wherein the captive falls in love with the kidnapper. The movie has just two main characters, a young, innocent, sweet and slightly immature daughter of a multimillionaire, played superbly by Alia Bhat and her kidnapper, excellently enacted by Randeep Hooda. The girl is unintentionally kidnapped by a small time Jat goonda, and once he comes to know the identity of the girl and the power of her father, he gets on the run with her. GULAB GANG Gulab Gang was an utter disappointment......more so since a lot was expected not only from the movie but from two super heroines from yesteryears. Based on the Gulabi Gang, a social group of women, fighting for women cause and standing against atrocities on women, in north India over last decade or so, the movie twisted a social cause into a political tussle between the leader of the Gulab Gang, played by Madhuri and the widow of the local politician, depicted on screen by Juhi Chawla. The stand for social reforms and the fight for women empowerment were sadly thrown well in the background and the movie concentrated on an ugly, poorly depicted twisted political battle.
