GUZARISH

movies, social trends
DEATH WISH !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sanjay Leela Bhansali is the real and the greatest Dream Merchant,Bollywood has ever had, who takes all the hues of the rainbow to create a painting on celluloid and could give even something as depressing and morose as death, a glamorous presentation.Guzarish was yet again one similar movie of his. I saw the movie late, and even though the movie may already be off the minds of people, I cannot refrain from talking about it, even though it’s late in the day. In fact I am doing this with a purpose of refreshing their memories again. I haven’t seen the English movie, from which it is rumored to have been inspired or even copied, but no regrets…………am very sure it could not be as good as Gujarish…

A SLOW WALK !   Was waiting very anxiously to watch Morning Walk, since It was bringing my all time favorite Sharmila ,on screen after long. DIVINE TUSSEL

religion, social trends
The divine tussle   Besides the numerous religions and sects that we had, in the world, especially in India, more and more religious groups are mushrooming everyday. The last decade has seen am alarming rise in the number of GURUS, and their pravachan sessions cost a fortunes, at times the Math or Organization charging in crores for a week session, at any city.   What is strange and at times even disappointing is the fact, that many of them lead lives full of luxury, contrary to what they preach. Some have more than one wife, some involved in criminal charges, some in faulty accounts and few have their children involved in all kinds of nefarious activities, while the ashrams of others are accused of murder of children in the name…

What's in AGE !!   Nothing has lost its identity, more in the recent years,as has age !( Cover Story,OUTLOOK,Aug 3,2009) Age,which once was a very significant aspect of any person's,personal particulars, seems have no existence today.   Just two decades back, age decided everything, schooling, job, marriage, kids, clothes, food, lingo and life style. We had rigid ,water tight compartments ,arbitrarily of 25 years each,to divide the community into youngsters, middle age and oldies, and the latter starting,at the surprising young age of 50.This compartmentalization ,probably based on the Ashram system of Vedas, was handed down generation after generation, with a pre conceived generation gap ! Majority of the people, spent most of their lives, just to earn a livelihood, and lived most of the time either taking care of the previous generation or the next generation !   But times have changed, and age has no significance today.People are…

rAKHEE KA SWAMWAR

social trends
GIVE THE DEVIL HIS(/HER) DUE   Rakhee Ka Swamvar,is the most talked about reality show of Indian TV,ever, second may be just to,Sach Ka Samana.(The Sexes ,The Week, aug 02,2009)   .In spite of her stunning designer outfits, with her pouting lips, pakoda nose, painted face, layered eyelids with artificial eyelashes, flickering at regular intervals, silicon at the right and wrong places, she looks like Ms Hanuman in any Japanese animation film on Ramayana, and reminds me of Simba  of Lion King. Rakhee Sawant may sound loud or act crude at times, but she needs a great applaud, for it is she and she alone who could dare to do this and get away with it,so successfully   The morality guardians of the society and the critics of Bollywood may accuse her of exposure and vulgarity and may call her uncouth and…

DADDY -O-DADDY ! It is heartening to see that a day has been earmarked for dads as well,as Fathers day,as there is a Mothers Day !   The role of a father in a child's life has gone a revolutionary change in the last two decades or so,and has almost broken the water tight compartmentalization, that existed between the roles of mom and dad !   But  be it his previous role,or the new avtaar, one person and relation, that has been the biggest victim of the gender bias, has been the Father !And this has come down since eternity,in mythology, literature, stories and poetry.Even Bollywood has not been left behind in this discrimination,as while there are innumerable movies and songs on Ma ki mamta, there are hardly any on Pita ka pyaar !   Without undermining…

Suicide Of Womanhood

GENDERS, social trends
Suicide of womanhood   I am a great admirer of woman and have immense respect for her. I am also all the way ,for their upliftment and empowerment But without sounding like a MCP,I cannot resist but say, that many woman are actually going overboard Under the umbrella of woman-lib,modernization,advancement,woman-empowerment and equality, some of the women of today is going bonkers. They are running nonstop with a sole aim of leaving man behind,at an unimaginable pace,to destinations unknown and goals undefined. Suddenly the battle has become more important than the victory-point,which she herself does not know. Education,equality,self-dependency are all worth encouraging ,but the means being used are often wrong In trying to compete with the man ,the women at times  forgot that they need not ape him to do so. She need not wear pants, drink, smoke, hash.use abusive language ,…

Obama s reaching the most coveted chair of president of USA,though seems to have shattered the myth as it partially did in India with a Dalit President,Muslim president, lady president and now a dalit lady as a speaker of look sabha But isn't this a part of the mankind's total history...Discrimination on several grounds has existed since time memorable.Favors, partiality and Discrimination are stages of the same process and are seen every where and in all aspects of life.On class, creed, education, color, gender and social and economical status. On international level it is on color and country of origin, and on national level it is on state, community, language, and religion.Even in religion it is on caste, and in towns and villages,on caste and power of land and money   Our mythology, including the epics of Ramayana and Mahabharata are replete…
